Implementation and methods of teaching
An innovation factory is a place where creativity, technology and entrepreneurship come together. It is a space where students, researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs can work together to develop new ideas and solutions. The Wellbeing Technology Innovation Factory will focus in particular on developing technological innovations related to wellbeing. This could be new applications for healthcare, smart devices for the home or new ways to use data to improve people's wellbeing.
The course will follow a professional project-team approach. Multidisciplinary student teams solve real business problems in a user-centred way. Projects are carried out in cooperation with companies.
Timing and attendance
Completion of the course requires a commitment to a common timetable and teamwork. Attendance is compulsory at the start and end days on 24th March from 9 am to 4 pm and on 4th April from 9 am to 2 pm. Active participation in teamwork and tutorials.
Working life cooperation
The course is based on working life cooperation, i.e. nominating companies to solve development challenges.
Learning environment
In multidisciplinary teams, in business projects. Visits to companies.
Two (2) contact days.
Starting on Monday 24.3.202 5at 9-16 at Lahti campus.
Conclusion on Friday 4.4.2024 at 9-14 at the Lahti campus
In addition, the course includes regular meetings with coaches at separately agreed times.
During the course there will also be clinic-style / information-discussion-style substance-specific meetings.
Student teams may work in a mutually agreed way on campus as well as online.
Student time use and work load
1 credit corresponds to about 27 hours of student work, i.e. a course of 3 credits corresponds to about 81 hours of student work.
2/3 of the hourly resource is devoted to the implementation of the course.
1/3 of the time spent on: e.g. studying the learning material, writing a learning diary and other independent work.
The student teams independently calendar the times for joint work during the walkthrough.
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
Prerequisites: The student must be a degree student of LAB-ammattikorkeakoulu. The HOPS must contain at least 60 credits of coursework.
During the implementation of the course, the student will be involved in LAB's work-life cooperation, which requires the student to sign a confidentiality and IPR transfer agreement.
Assessment criteria
Assessment methods include: continuous observation and reflection on competences, self- and peer-assessment, evaluation by coaches and feedback from the client's representative.
