Implementation and methods of teaching
Online via Moodle. Individual and team work. Independent study, guidance provided by the teacher on request (via email). Assignments to complete according to instructions and to hand in for the teacher to provide feedback and assessment. Self-evaluation. Test in the EXAM system, available on several university campuses around Finland. If your current place of residence is far away from the nearest EXAM hall (e.g., outside Finland), contact the teacher about the test arrangements.
Timing and attendance
No scheduled meetings, no contact classes either online or on campus. Students are expected adhere to the given deadlines for assignments. A test in the EXAM system.

Provided by the teacher on Moodle. Online reading materials, exercises, assignments.
Alternative completion methods
Recognition of prior learning (RPL): The student must submit an application before or immediately after the start of the course. Neither a pathway student nor an open UAS student can apply for RPL.
Exam retakes
Students who fail the course will need to complete the course requirements within one year (12 months) from the end of the course period. Consult the teacher to agree on retakes of failed assignments and test, and upgrading exams.
Learning environment
Moodle. Email for communication between the students and the teacher. A test in the EXAM system.
Student time use and work load
The approximate student workload is 80 hours, divided evenly over the course.

The course is taught at a B2 level according to the Common European Framework. Students who have successfully completed other business writing or correspondence courses in English are not recommended to take this course.
Assessment criteria
Students are to complete the assignments according to the given timetable, pass a test, and write a self-evaluation essay at the end of the course. The teacher assesses the students' performance individually on a scale of 5-0 (some assignments Pass/Fail). Failed/grade 0 assignments and a failed test can be retaken twice. If the student completes the course (grade 4-1) but wishes to upgrade, one attempt is allowed. Consult the teacher about retakes and upgrade exams.

This is an online course taught through Moodle. There are no regular lessons for this course and all work is completed by students independently.

Contents
Primary course objective:
Students are able to produce effective business documents using appropriate genres and styles. They can use standard business document templates and apply the terminology used in most common business documents.
Course contents:
1. Formal language for writing business documents (specific to this course)
2. Common business transaction documents (e.g, inquiry letter, reply letter, quotation letter, etc.)
3. Information regarding delivery and payments in business transactions
4. Other business letters

Students will complete a number of small written assignments, some of which may be graded Pass/Fail, others on a 0-5 scale. Completion of all assignments will contribute to the final course grade.

The student will complete the course 100% online via Moodle. There are no (contact) lessons. The student will study the course material independently and practice their reading and writing skills through assignments. The assignments consist of reading both popular and academic texts using various reading strategies, completing Moodle quizzes based on their understanding of the text, as well as completing (a) written assignment(s). As this is a seven-week intensive course, hard deadlines - > given deadlines must be adhered to for successful continuation of course content (from one part to the next) and for the successful completion of the course.

This is an intensive, seven-week course, i.e., the duration of the course is seven (7) weeks (2 September - 18 October).

Implementation and methods of teaching
100-prosenttinen verkkototeutus. HUOM. Päiväryhmä LLTILII23K ja muut päiväopiskelijat ilmoittautuvat omaan kurssitoteutukseen (3018-loppuinen). Opintojakso sisältää eri tavoin toteutettuja asiantuntijapuheenvuoroja/-kirjoituksia, tiedon etsintää sekä kontaktointia sidosryhmiin, esimerkiksi yrittäjiin ja potentiaalisiin asiakkaisiin. Palautettavia tehtäviä on kaksi: yksilötehtävä ja neljän hengen ryhmissä tehtävä harjoitustyö. Harjoitustyössä on kolme suoritusvaihtoehtoa: perinteinen raporttimuotoinen työ, BMC-muotoinen työ sekä liiketoimintasuunnitelma. Kurssilla hyödynnetään yhteistyömahdollisuudet StartHubin, Lahden Seudun Kehitys LADEC Oy:n ja yrittäjäjärjestöjen kanssa. Tervetuloa mukaan!
