Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- describe aging as a phenomenon and the changes it brings to the movement and functional ability

Implementation and methods of teaching

In this course, students study independently as well as under teacher guidance in online workshops (Zoom) and on the home campus.
Independent study in this context includes pre-assignments and learning tasks, as well as preparation for the home exam (on the Moodle platform) of the medical studies and practical assessment.

Timing and attendance

The course will take place during the autumn semester of 2024 (weeks 33-40).
The medical studies need to exam before the physiotherapy section of the course (during 3.6.-18.8.2024)

The timing and the content of the course are on the Moodle platform.

The course requires attendance. Students are responsible for independently studying the content of any missed sessions. Students demonstrate their competence in practical assessment.

The scope of the study module is 5 credits, which corresponds to 135 hours of student work.

- Portion of the medical studies: about 27 hours
- Under teacher guidance in online workshops (Zoom): about 14 hours
- Under teacher guidance on the home campus: about 20 hours
- Practical assessment: about 30 minutes
- Independent study: about 70 hours

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student can independently conduct functional ability assessments and create a client oriented functional ability-enhancing plan for the client. The student is able to seek comprehensive evidence based data that supports the plan.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student can independently conduct extensive functional ability assessments (considering different areas) and create a client oriented functional ability-enhancing plan (considering the client`s environment) for the client. The student is able to seek and utilize comprehensive evidence based data that supports the plan.
