Implementation and methods of teaching
Online course.
Timing and attendance
Online course. An Info session on Zoom on the first week of the course (September 3 at 2pm). Students will receive more info and Zoom link by email.
Learning material and recommended literature
Students will complete the Moodle materials and exercises independently, in addition to returning a weekly assignment each week of the course. On the final week, there is a three-part final assignment including a written and oral communication task and a Moodle exam. All instructions are mainly in Finnish.
Exam retakes
There are two retake possibilities for the final Moodle-exam.

Contents
- revision of essential grammar: verbs, nouns, sentence structure, adjectives and prepositions
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
The course is targeted to students whose grade for English at matriculation exam was lower than C, or students who have not studied in senior high school (lukio) or whose level of English is below B1 according to the Common European Framework. The course is taught at level B1.2/B2.1. This course cannot be included in compulsory language studies. The instructions on Moodle are in Finnish.
Assessment criteria
The assessment is based on weekly assignment, final assignments, and the Moodle exam.

The student has a good command of the course content. The student can deliver everyday messages clearly in writing; possible problems with grammar and vocabulary do not hinder communication.
