Objective

Student is able to
- learn technical sustainable information technology topics, such as optimizing the energy consumption of hardware, software or algorithms and communication strategies or protocols
- learn management topics, such as resource-saving production, efficient use, reuse, recycling and finally disposal of IT components.
- gain experience on international project management while working in small international teams on a project.

Student is able to

Implementation and methods of teaching

Course will be organized in co-operation with University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (Germany) and National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (Ukraine).

Lessons and co-operation in student teams will be organized online.

The course will include one week study exchange to University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt faculty of Computer Science and Business Information Systems.
This will be arranged on week 50 (12-16.12).

Moodle eLearning platform organized and hosted by the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.

Contents

Introduction to Green Computing.
Introduction to Agile project management.
International Project Management.
Team acquisition, development, and communication, multicultural environment.
The Project Managers Point of View.
Green manufacturing and disposal.
Efficient protocols, algorithms and data structures.
Virtualization (e.g. containers, serverless computing)
Reduced power consumption of computers.

Group work in international teams.

Assessment criteria

Group work in international teams and individual reflection on learning outcomes.

Student receives less than 40% of the maximum points.
