Implementation and methods of teaching
A different perspective and alternative approach to the world of innovations.This course is a virtual online course that includes three scheduled virtual contact sessions. Participants will engage in independent work both individually and in group settings.
Timing and attendance
The course is structured into main content blocks, with online sessions on the following dates:
• Innovativeness and creativity in the redesign of innovation management: 6.2.2024.
• Innovation activities at the organizational level: 5.3.2024.
• Team-level innovating tools and methods, leading innovation activities in practice: 23.4.2024.
• The schedule for the on-demand content will be announced at the beginning of the course.
Attendance at scheduled online sessions is expected, while on-demand materials can be accessed at the student's convenience.
Learning material and recommended literature
Participants will be informed about the relevant literature and required materials through Moodle.

Working life cooperation
The course includes case studies and examples from current business practices, highlighting the application of innovation and innovativeness-related concepts.
Learning environment
The learning environment consists of:
• Online sessions via Zoom.
• Moodle for on-demand content, assignments and online forums for group discussions.
Student time use and work load
The course is valued at 5 ECTS, indicating a total workload of approximately 133 hours. This workload is distributed across individual study, group work, and participation in online sessions.
Contents
The course covers the following key areas:
• The role of innovativeness and creativity as an organization’s success and driving force.
• Development of innovation capabilities and processes.
• Traditional and modern approaches to innovation activities at the organizational level.
• Idea creation and innovation scouting at the team level.
• Practical applications of innovations and innovativeness.

The student does not fulfill the basic requirements of the course. There is a clear lack of understanding of the core principles of business analytics, difficulty in applying theoretical knowledge in practical contexts, or a failure to submit essential assessments.
Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has a minimal understanding of the concepts of knowledge management and business analytics. Basic concepts are recognized, but applying these ideas and performing critical analysis proves difficult. The student's work includes notable mistakes or omits important content, showing a struggle to produce coherent outcomes.
Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student shows a good understanding of the course material and can apply key principles of business analytics in common situations. Although the analysis and strategic development are structured appropriately, they may lack some complexity, creativity, or detail. The understanding of the integration of analytics with innovation processes is evident, but it might not be particularly inventive.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student excels in understanding and applying the concepts of business analytics and knowledge management. The student can analyze complex situations in depth, create cutting-edge strategies, and formulate comprehensive plans for data-driven innovation. The student's ability to strategize and optimize data use is evident, and the student’s work represents a thoughtful, strategic approach to combining analytics with innovative decision-making for industry leadership.

The student is able to recognize and name the most important concepts of research and development methods.The student is able to recognize and name suitable research approach and data collection method for the development task. The student is able to recognize analysis methods.
Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)
In addition to the previous criteria, the student is able to use the selected research based development methods and knowledge and data collection method in the development task. The student is able to justify the use of the research approach and the related methods. Student understands the importance of critical thinking in selecting research and development method and related to literature and empirical data. The student is able to demonstrate practical benefits of the results of the research and development task.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
In addition to the previous criteria, the student is able to justifiable evaluate the success of the selected research approach and the suitability of the research and development methods. The student is able to evaluate the reliability and generalizability of the research of development task. Student is able to apply the results of the research or development task.
