Implementation and methods of teaching

The traineeship is part of your studies at a university of applied sciences.  
The aim of the work placement is to familiarise students in a guided way with practical work tasks and the application of knowledge and skills in working life, especially those that are essential for vocational studies.

1. the internship plan and contract have been returned in time and approved by the internship supervisor of the degree programme before the start of the internship  
2. a traineeship diary is kept during the traineeship

The course lectures will be taught face-to-face.

Contents

The course lectures will be taught face-to-face.
The lectures include theoretical parts, audiovisual material and group and individual classroom exercises.
The course involves designing a brand concept for an existing or fictional company, product or innovation.
Where possible, the course aims to organise visits or guest lecturers.
Attendance and participation in discussion are essential to the nature of the course.

Student time use and work load

• The thesis design component is 5 credits, equivalent to approximately 135 hours of student work (one credit 27 hours).

Contents

• At this stage of the course, the thesis has progressed to the finalisation and publication stage.
In the synthesis seminar, permission will be given to participate in the public evaluation.

The written part will be finalised, used in Turnitin and submitted to the assessors. The artwork will be finalised for the exhibition and, in the case of a dummy for a photo book, for example, will be submitted to the evaluators. The judges will have access to the exhibition work in advance in the form of a pdf of the photo booklet that will be sent to them.

Each student will be involved in the construction of the exhibition, its publicity, etc.

One or more external assessors will be invited to the assessment session. The teachers who supervised the work in the seminars will also take part in the evaluation. The communication teachers will give a written opinion on the written part of the work.'

The student uploads the completed, assessed and approved work to Theseus.
Students will take the maturity test as informed by the supervising teacher.

Implementation and methods of teaching

The 1 credit course on writing a thesis report is a course organised by the LAB for all students, who must register for it in Moodle on their own course platform. The course is delivered by distance learning. This is included in the planning phase of the thesis.

Attendance at seminars is compulsory.

Working life cooperation

Individual theses may be carried out as assignments from working life or in cooperation with working life partners. In such cases, the student will enter into a contract with the employer in accordance with the Lab guidelines.

The thesis design component is 5 credits, equivalent to approximately 135 hours of student work (one credit 27 hours). 

Contents

The planning of the thesis starts already in the spring of the third year with an information session (in zoomis).  

In photography studies, a separate course on Research and Development (5 credits) guides students through the thesis planning phase. The material for this course is on Moodle and is self-paced, but with assignments 1 and 2 completed and presented at the topic seminar. These are the work plan and the disposition.  

The 1 credit course on writing a thesis report is a course offered by LAB to all students and must be enrolled in Moodle on their course platform. This is included in the planning phase of the thesis.

You can start writing your thesis when you have completed around 180 credits. 

Assessment criteria

Accepted performance requires active participation in the seminar, tutoring and guidance.  

Competency-based assessment:  
The student will be able to develop a topic and a work plan with a timetable and objectives appropriate to him/her.  
The student will be able to present and discuss the topic.

Contents

• The thesis course consists of an artistic production and a report, their supervision and exchange seminars. The supervision sessions will monitor the progress of the thesis and reflect on its direction between the supervising teachers and the students working on the thesis.

The artistic production and the writing of the report run in parallel in the work process.
