Implementation and methods of teaching

The spatial art course introduces the starting points of three-dimensional and spatial art. What it's all about and the possibilities it can offer for artistic expression. The aim is to broaden the student's understanding of art and its means of expression, with a view to future studies.

In the course you will work with a variety of materials and media, focusing on experimentation and exploring different perspectives. Experimentation and exploration is at the heart of the course, rather than a set outcome.

Spatial art encompasses both individual art objects and installations built into a space, and everything around them. We will explore the field of spatial art through lectures, discussions, experimentation, writing and the unprejudiced implementation of assigned tasks.

Materials used in the course will be lightly worked sketch materials to allow students to experiment and expand their expression.

Large machines or an in-depth study of materials are not part of the course programme, but may be explored as the course progresses.

To complete the course, students must complete a learning diary in which they reflect on and process their experiences from the course.

Timing and attendance

The teacher is usually available Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays are for active self-study.

The course requires 80% active attendance.

- Can identify and describe methods of making art in a guided way
- Can participate in guided learning discussions
- Completes all assigned tasks and attends lectures

- Can apply a wide range of options to their artistic work process
- Can create artworks based on their ideas in a guided and independent way and develop their work based on feedback
- Can independently identify and compare the methods of artistic creation used
- Can evaluate and justify their skills and set artistic, content-related and technical development objectives
- Carry out all assigned tasks and attend lectures.

- Can apply and develop a variety of options for their artistic work process
- Can use what they have learned in a planned and creative way in their work and apply the feedback they receive
- Can apply the methods they use and analyse works
