Learning outcomes

The student can
- produces a digital image by photographing, scanning, drawing
- basics of using digital tools in their own field
- identify current phenomena related to digitality
- realizes the work using digital methods

Implementation and methods of teaching

Classroom working, workshop working, independent work.

Teaching methods: lectures, skills practice, exercises, written assignments, creative problem solving, project work, discussions, co-criticism, knowledge acquisition.

Timetable in Time Edit, more info at the beginning of the course (Moodle), due dates for assignments are indicated in the assignments (Moodle).

All learning tasks are compulsory unless otherwise stated.

Timing and attendance

Absolute, compulsory attendance at the first lesson.
Compulsory attendance at the final inspection and possible final cleaning. 80% attendance at other contact teaching sessions in order to pass the course. The contact teaching sessions are indicated in timetable (Time Edit).

Learning material and recommended literature

Study material: course material in moodle, self-produced material, self-proposed material

Compulsory equipment: note-taking equipment, own camera with any necessary cables (mobile phone camera is sufficient), sketchbook and other sketching equipment. Your own sketchpad may be used.

Alternative completion methods

Advanced applied training, skills acquired in working life.
Previous education: carefully read the learning outcomes of the course and the eAHOT procedure and eAHOT guidelines.
Demonstration of competences according to the LAB-amk guidelines; see the guidelines in eLAB.

1 credit (credit) is on average 27 hours of student work.
5 credits is equivalent to 135 hours of student work.

Contents

Online environment and how to work in it, the online learning environment moodle, ideas about digital; basics of digital image processing: basic adjustments of a digital image, cropping, resizing, file formats, colour profile selection; printing; simple basic use of a folding program: e.g. Creating a new document, editing pages, positioning image and text, style palette; importing images to a computer: mobile phone, camera, scanning; Laser cutting, PDF publishing; student portfolios, introduction to the drawing board, other digital issues.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

Good basic IT-skills.

Exercises and assignments, peer evaluation, self-evaluation, portfolios.

Assessment scale

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Can work according to instructions
- Can generate ideas for and realise works of art
- Can identify and describe methods of making art in a guided way
- Can participate in guided learning discussions
- Can search for professional information in his/her field

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Can apply a wide range of options to their working process
- Can independently and in a guided manner realise works of art and other ensembles based on their ideas and develop their ideas and realisations on the basis of feedback received
- Can independently identify and compare the methods of (artistic) creation they use
- Can evaluate and justify their skills and set artistic, content-related and technical development objectives
- Can follow and describe the professional debate in their field

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Can apply and develop a variety of options for their artistic work process
- Can use what they have learnt in a planned and creative way when creating works, performances, documentaries, images, portraits and apply the feedback they receive
- Able to apply the methods used and to analyse works and other visual realisations
- Able to assess, develop and extend artistic, content-related and technical skills
- Participate in professional debate in their field

- absence the first time
- failure to complete the required exercises, assignements and tasks
- absences of more than 20% from contact teaching sessions
- assignments returned late
- no knowledge of basic image processing operations
- not able to work in the online environment of the UAS
- cannot print using available printers
- the learning outcomes are not met
