Learning outcomes
Personal photographic expression
The student is able to
- discuss about the international field of contemporary photography
-experiment and produce visual material evolving personal photographic expression
-reflect own personal progress
-write about the contemporary photography for publishing
Research and Development in a Thesis Work
The student is able to
-obtain, utilise and assess R&D-related information and their sources critically
-follow the rules of ethical principles applied in all research activities
-select and use the most typical research and development methods of their own field
-write a scientific report and is familiar with the requirements for language and style and how to document the source
Implementation and methods of teaching
Lectures, written exercises, discussions, visits.
The professional practices and portfolio part will be partly combined with the Photographer's Work course (vk24). Teacher Henri Airo + visitors
A large part of Pauliina Pasanen's Research Writing component is done independently in Moodle + 4-5 face-to-face teaching days.
History of Contemporary Art will be done in combination with visual arts students.
Timing and attendance
80% attendance required. Attendance will affect the assessment.

Research Writing for Thesis: Pauliina Pasanen
History of Contemporary Art: Heikki Saros.
Professional Practices: Photographer's Contractual Practices, Pricing, Billing, Copyright, etc. -Henri Airo and Visitors.
Portfolio: Henri Airo
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
In terms of research writing, the course is linked to the thesis.
