Learning outcomes
The student is able to
• assess the structure, function and regulation of the organ systems of the human body and the factors affecting them
• explain the causation mechanisms of diseases and the changes caused by them in the body
• present the principles of microbiology and infection prevention in clinical nursing.
Implementation and methods of teaching
The Anatomy and Physiology course requires a lot of independent study. The studies are supported by optional lectures and mandatory functional ANFY workshops on campus. In the Moodle learning environment, learning is supported by various practice tasks and practice exams.
Timing and attendance
The course progresses according to the schedule announced in the course Moodle.
Mandatory attendance at functional ANFY workshops.
Learning material and recommended literature
Anatomy and Physiology:
Leppäluoto et al. Anatomy and Physiology, from structure to function, Sanoma Pro 2019
Material in the Moodle learning environment.
Microbiology:
Karhumäki E. et al. (2016 or newer). Microbes as a challenge in nursing.
Alternative completion methods
Anatomy and physiology can be remedied with equivalent university-level content.
Remediation must be completed within a maximum of one week of the course. If necessary, contact the course teachers by email (marika.harkonen@lab.fi or eija.viitala@lab.fi).
Exam retakes
Anatomy and Physiology: Retake exam dates will be announced during the course.
