Learning outcomes

The student can
- choose and limit the subject of personal photography
- implements the project as planned in accordance with schedules and goals
- verbalizes what he does and his own motivation in relation to the tradition of photography
- realizes a functioning pictorial entity

Implementation and methods of teaching

Joint meetings at the Lahti campus, reviewing and taking forward students' projects during lessons, any relevant lectures, individual meetings at a distance or face-to-face as appropriate.

Contents

During the course, students will design and work on a photographic project, which will also be finalised as an exhibition. The thematic starting points of the projects vary according to the students' own interests. The course will explore different methodological solutions and students will find an approach suitable for their own project. At the end of the course, a group exhibition of the course works will be held.

Assessment criteria

The finished visual work will be assessed on a scale of 1-5. Attendance in class will influence the assessment.

The student has been absent for more than the 80% attendance allowed. Assignments have not been returned.

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student's participation in classes and the returned assignments indicate that the student has mastered the course content. The student has completed a photography project, but the final result is scarce and would require further work.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

The active participation of the student in the lessons and the assignments they have completed show that they are engaged in their own work and in the content of the lessons. The student has been able to choose methodological solutions appropriate to the subject matter and to complete the work as an exhibition.

The active participation of the student in the lessons and the assignments they have completed indicate a particular commitment to their own work and to the content of the lessons. The student has been able to choose methodological solutions appropriate to the subject matter and to complete the work into an exhibition package, which is an original and finished exhibition.
