Implementation and methods of teaching
Online course
Timing and attendance
The course starts in week 3 in Zoom and ends in week 8. All meetings are in Zoom. Weekly assignments and tests will be completed and checked independently, plus additional assignments with teacher feedback. The focus is on developing written and speaking skills through various exercises. Moodle exam in week 8. Date and time to be agreed with students. All instructions for the assignments are in Finnish.

3 x 27 hours, the workload is spread evenly during the course
Contents
- revision of essential grammar: verbs, nouns, sentence structure, adjectives and prepositions.
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
The course is targeted to students whose grade for English at matriculation exam was lower than C, or students who have not studied in senior high school (lukio) or whose level of English is below B1 according to the Common European Framework. The course is taught at level B1.2/B2.1. This course cannot be included in compulsory language studies. The instructions on Moodle are in Finnish.
Assessment criteria
Written and oral assignments, tests and a Moodle exam are to be completed successfully as specified by the teacher.

The student has a good command of the course content. The student can deliver everyday messages clearly in writing; possible problems with grammar and vocabulary do not hinder communication.
