Implementation and methods of teaching

About artistic practice - this course introduces you to the skills needed to make art in general. Through a variety of exercises, students will learn about themselves as creators, learn to identify their strengths and how to use them. As a group, we will reflect on and try to answer the question: what kind of work is art-making and what does it require of the artist?

During the course, the teacher will support the students in various exercises, independently, in pairs and in small groups. Time will also be set aside for group discussions.

Timing and attendance

Face-to-face tuition Tue-Fri at the Fine Arts premises. The teacher will inform you in advance about the tasks to be carried out independently.

There will be two teaching groups.

Contents

We will learn the basics of artistic work through various drawing and design activities.

We will stimulate ourselves to come up with ideas from different starting points, using a variety of methods. Where can an artist get ideas when their head is pounding? The artist is an observer of their own environment: this way of working will be consciously practised through different tasks. We sketch from both observation and abstract intuition.

We will create a variety of short tasks that can be used as tools to develop our own expression. The tasks will vary in duration - from a few minutes of reaction to a maximum of a couple of days of work. The emphasis is on brainstorming and sketching. In addition to drawing, we will also experiment with three-dimensional sketching, mainly using clay.

Most of the tasks will be carried out on the school premises, but there will also be independent work outside the campus.

No previous knowledge is required to participate in the course.
