Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- define primary treatment paths and processes of a medical-surgical and perioperative client
- assess the treatment needs of a medical-surgical client and implement key nursing measures
- apply knowledge of the primary medical-surgical diseases in nursing care
- apply knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology in medical-surgical nursing care and safe pharmacology

Please note:
Digicampus exam of Medical nursing competence and surgical and perioperative nursing skill test are done at the end of this course entity.

Assessment criteria

Seminars accepted/failed, for more detailed information see course's Moodle.
Medical surgical nursing care partial exams (1-5) grade
Palliative and end-of-life care exam grade 1-5
Medical studies accepted/failed
Final course grade is counted the average of all above mentioned grades.

All parts of the course must be completed before completion of course.

-understand needs of medical-surgical patient care and implement necessary nursing procedures
-describe most common medical-surgical diseases in nursing process
-understand meaning of pathophysiology and pharmacology in medical-surgical nursing care and implementation of planning, execution and evaluation of pharmacotherapy
-complete medical studies

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

-implement knowledge of most common medical-surgical diseases in nursing care
