Learning outcomes

The student will be able to
- use the school's photo studio and apply their knowledge in different environments
- use mobile lighting equipment
- use the different properties of light in image expression and work under different lighting conditions
- design a visual concept for a product image and its implementation.

Learning environment

Independent photographic and lighting assignments will be carried out in varying environments off campus, according to the assignment.

135 hours. Includes teaching and completion of assignments.

Contents

The course teaches the principles of a photo studio and how to operate the equipment. Practical exercises will help you to learn about different lighting solutions and the use of light in imaging. The course also covers the theory of light and lighting.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

No previous knowledge of lighting and studio work is required. Students should have experience using a system camera. The course will use the school's cameras, which will be instructed during the course.

Assessment criteria

The assessment will be based on description tasks and related processes, participation in work and discussions, as well as the exam and any other assignments. The assessment will focus on the description tasks and related processes.

If the course includes an exam, an approved examination is required for the course to be passed (grades 1-5). An approved mark for the period also requires the completion of the assignments given during the period in accordance with the instructions given and participation in the classroom, including discussion sessions related to the filming assignments.

Demonstrates familiarity with the knowledge base of the field and is able to independently apply and justify a wide range of techniques, working methods, models and processes and to produce visual material of particular skill and interest in terms of content and visual appeal using the techniques and working methods learnt.
