Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät

This course is taught online and specifically for the student group LLPRLII24SV.

There are a total of 4 x 1 hour lessons in the course. All other work in the course is completed independently by students.

Ajoitus ja läsnäolo

All work is delivered through Moodle, including clear deadlines on the work to be completed. Students are expected to return assignments by the given deadlines. Grading penalties will apply for late submissions.

All four one-hour lessons are held through Zoom and will occur in the evening. There will be one lesson in each of the following calendar weeks - 36, 39, 45, 49. The first lesson in week 36 is an introductory lesson, but the three other lessons will require active participation from students and will include tasks that form part of the grade.

The course is taught at a B2 level according to the Common European Framework.

Arviointimenetelmät

The course itself is graded on 0-5 scale.

Exercises in the course will be marked individually out of a number of points, but each whole unit will be graded on a 0-5 scale, based on the amount of points a student has received for all graded tasks in that unit. The grading will be further explained when the course begins.

Key tasks in the course will likely include:
- Sales pitch
- Describing graphs/figures
- Business plan
- Formal writing exercises (Moodle quizzes)
- Formal emails
- SWOT analysis
- Evaluating skills from job ads
- Cover letter
- Group job interview

Grading of exercises will include automatically graded Moodle quizzes, teacher grading submissions, and peer feedback in lessons. Self-evaluation may also be included.

Vocabulary is minimally appropriate to context.

The student speaks in a style vaguely appropriate to the assignment. Student interacts minimally with participants. Performance meets few of the set expectations of given assignment. The student speaks in a vaguely consistent manner. Delivery is minimally structured. Linguistic performance is minimally accurate and appropriate to the context. Pauses are rather long and at times pronunciation hinders comprehension.

Arviointikriteerit: taso 3 (arviointiasteikko 1-5)

The student has met the written assignment requirements adequately. Work displays somewhat consistent and appropriate register. Content is somewhat effective and diverse. The text has a reasonably logical structure. The text is rather cohesive. Minor mistakes occur in style. The student mostly constructs sentences well. Grammatical irregularities occur. Vocabulary is adequately professional and mostly appropriate to context.

In most cases the student speaks in a style appropriate to the assignment. Student interacts with participants. Performance meets most set expectations of given assignment. The student speaks in a consistent manner. Delivery is structured. Linguistic performance is somewhat accurate and appropriate to the context, although short pauses and hesitations may occur.

The student has met the written assignment requirements fully. Work displays consistent and appropriate register. Content is effective, diverse, and skillfully delivered. The text has a clear and logical structure. The text is cohesive, fluent, and versatile. The student uses varied structures although occasional grammatical irregularities may occur. Vocabulary is varied and professional and typically appropriate to context.

The student speaks in a style appropriate to the assignment. Student interacts fluently and competently. Performance meets all set expectations of given assignment. The student speaks in a clear, concise, and consistent manner. Delivery is well-structured, intentional. Linguistic performance is accurate, appropriate to the context, and speech tempo is natural.
