Osaamistavoitteet
The student is able to
• implement meeting practices and produce meeting documents
• communicate fluently in professional conversations, meetings and negotiations
• present convincingly considering the audience
Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät
The course takes place mainly online on Zoom/Teams and partly in class on campus. Self-study and pair and group work; discussions, meeting practice sessions, and presentations. Active attendance is required.
Ajoitus ja läsnäolo
Moodle platform opens on 30 September. All compulsory quizzes and written and oral assignments are to be completed by the given deadlines. See the TimeEdit system for the classes on campus and Zoom/Teams. Note that a more detailed course schedule will be available on the course Moodle page. Active participation is expected. Final presentations on 4 Dec 2024 on Lahti Campus.

Uusintamahdollisuudet
No retake option available for the whole course. The student must complete all required course assignments and quizzes to pass and complete the course.

The course takes place mainly online but partly in class on campus.

The student's workload is equal to 4 credits (approximately 110 hours) including coursework and classes.
Sisältö
-Conducting, chairing, and interacting in meetings, both in class and online, and writing meeting documentation in English.
-Learning meeting vocabulary and expressions in English.
-Applying negotiation strategies and techniques (e.g., BATNA).
-Learning basic presentation techniques and presenting confidently considering the audience, both in class and online.
-Knowing the basic techniques for interacting in different types of meetings in English.
Lisätietoja opiskelijalle: mm. edeltävä osaaminen
Prerequisite: Successful completion of English for Work or equivalent. The course is taught at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework (CEFR).

Continuous evaluation: Active participation both in class on campus and online on Zoom/Teams, successful completion of written and oral assignments and quizzes; self-assessment activities.

The student has acquired excellent spoken, written and nonverbal communication skills needed in business meetings and negotiations. The student is able to give professional, coherent, and fluent presentations in English. The student has found their own personal style to interact in meetings and give presentations. The student is able to apply the acquired skills in an expert manner in varied business settings in English.
