Contents

This course can be completed as part of an exchange period of at least 3 months at Hebei University of Technology in Tianjin, China. The exchange will be offered from approximately mid-May to mid-August. Students will attend cultural activities and participate in everyday life while reflecting on their experiences in a learning diary. Observations of life in China will be recorded related to the course learning objectives. These observations should pertain to all aspects of culture, but should include the student’s chosen academic field and intended career path when possible. Cultural items should be described in a manner that is consistent with how the items are viewed within the context of China, while also noting how other cultures may view the same item differently. A final presentation will document the student’s journey and experiences. Final presentations can be in the form of written summary, pictorial essay, video production, or combination of all three. In addition to the core course of 5 ECTS, students may also take various courses related to cultural themes at Hebei University of Technology and apply for credits through this course to a maximum of 10 additional ECTS. Course themes offered from year to year may vary.
