Learning outcomes

The student is able to:
- explain circular economy business models
- describe the main principles of cost accounting
- understand the product development process according to circular economy and the impact of value chains on it

Implementation and methods of teaching

The course is implemented online. The course includes various individual and group assignments. The course consists of 2 - 3 workshops, for which the students must prepare before the workshops according to the instructions given by the teacher.

Timing and attendance

There are 2 to 8 hours of contact classes per month, participation in which is recommended and affects the grade.

All learning material is available through the course's Moodle sites.

Alternative completion methods

Optional performance methods must be discussed with the responsible teachers of the course.

Learning environment

ZOOM and Moodle are used as learning environments.

Student time use and work load

The time spent by the student on the course is calculated to be 135 hours, of which approximately 15 hours are contact teaching. Most of the course is completed independently through various tasks and in group work. The calculated time used for both group work and individual tasks is approximately 60 h.

Contents

The course will be completed entirely online between February and April 2024. During the study period, student will get familiar with different business models and product development processes, especially from the point of view of the circular economy. During the study period, there are 3 workshops, during which students deepen their knowledge of the given subject areas.

Assessment criteria

The course is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 5. The final grade is determined by weighted grades calculated on the basis of various subtasks. The student must receive at least 50/100 p in order to receive a performance mark for the course.

Student:
- can describe linear and circular economy business models
- can explain the main principles of product and service development
- can describe the principles of the traditional and circular economy product development process
- know the factors affecting the cost structure of the product and service

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student:
- can describe the business models of the circular economy and understand its differences to the models according to the linear economy
- knows the main principles of product and service development
- knows how to apply the principles of the circular economy product development process and value creation to different cases
- determine the factors affecting the cost structure of the product and service

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student is able to:
- describe the business models of the circular economy and analyze its differences from the linear economic model
- describe and apply the principles of product and service development
- apply the principles of the circular economy product development process and value creation and understand the differences between the so-called to the traditional product development process
- analyze the factors affecting the cost structure of the product and service
