Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- explain key environmental cycles and assess bioeconomy strategies for sustainability
- describe the greenhouse effect and evaluate its role and impact on climate change
- summarize the history and impacts of climate change on human and ecological systems
- assess the environmental impacts of natural resource use and propose sustainable alternatives
- understand and apply strategies for carbon capture, storage, and climate adaptation across sectors
- understand how, especially SDGs 6,7,12,13 & 15, are linked to the project themes to promote more sustainable solutions

Implementation and methods of teaching

This course is Online course, containing 1 lecture sessions in Zoom. Most part of the work is done due to the individual assignments and online exams.

Timing and attendance

This course is virtual course, containing 1 lecture sessions. The first lecture will be held in ZOOM on Wednesday 4.10.2023. The more detailed schedule will be in Course Moodle and in TimeEdit. It is recommended that student participate for the first zoom meeting where the content and implementation of the course is presented.

All of the material will be delivered due to the course´s Moodle platform.

The total extent of this course is 5 ECTS, which equals with 135 hours student work.

Contents

During the course students get an overall picture of the theory related to climate change and how has human affected on it. Climate.now is a course on the basics of climate system, its change and effects of the change, how to mitigate and adapt to changing climate.

Assessment criteria

On-line learning course "Climate Change and Sustainability" must be passed to pass the course. The exam consists of 35 questions. The grade obtained from the exam is a percentage (correct answers/total number of questions). To pass the on-line exam half of the answers should be correct.
