Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- use the workshops in a safe manner, follow rules and instructions and justify her/his actions with given instructions
- with guidance use the most common tools and devices as well as techniques in the workshop
- manufacture the given assignments under supervision.

Contents

The course is divided into two integrated parts:
1. Sewing. Teacher: Jarkko Karppinen
- introduction to the machinery and equipment
- basic seam structures
- sewing experiments
- execution of the workshop license
2. Pattern cutting basics. Teacher: Yat Cheung (in english)
- introduction to the basic block
- modelling the basic block
- pattern cutting tasks

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

If you have know-how in pattern cutting and sewing with industrial machines, contact the teacher.

Assessment criteria

Attendance and activity.
Execution of the required tasks according to the schedule.
Assessment by the teachers.

Assessment scale

Approved/Failed

Assessment criteria: assessment scale failed/approved

Approved:
Attendance and activity. Minimum of 80% attendance.
Execution of the required tasks according to the schedule.

Fail:
More than 80% non-attendance.
Tasks not completed and handed-in according to the schedule.
