The student is able to
- identify and use the course vocabulary and phrases for common everyday situations
- tell about oneself and understand basic questions
- read and write simple sentences related to the course topics.

Implementation and methods of teaching
Suomi with Love 1 is an online elementary course of Finnish language. Suomi with Love 1 is an independent study course, provided in Moodle and it has maximum a few meetings in Zoom. The final exam will be held in Zoom.
Timing and attendance
The course must be completed during one semester.
Learning material and recommended literature
All the material is online, mostly in Moodle. To complete the course you will need a working computer with a working microphone and camera and sufficient internet access.
Learning environment
The course is in Moodle and has maximum few meetings in Zoom. The final exam is in Zoom.
Student time use and work load
The course is 3 ECT, equivalent to about 81 hours of work.
Contents
The course content will be the following:
- greetings
- introduction and personal details
- questions and answers
- numbers and alphabet
- at the café
- countries, languages, nationalities
- pronunciation
- verb type 1, present tense
- genitive case
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
No previous Finnish skills required.
Assessment criteria
The course includes a number of assessed tasks (in Moodle) and a final oral exam (in Zoom).
