Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- evaluate the reasons, symptoms and treatment procedures that lead to changes in the state of a client in need of acute care
- evaluate the need of acute care and carry out treatment in different working environments
- assess patient weakening condition and be able to start needed nursing care interventions based on previous learned
- describe national and international preparedness operating models of the authority cooperation and communication in exceptional and dangerous situations

Implementation and methods of teaching

The student is able to

Mandatory attendance on Info-lecture.
Mandatory attendance on simulations and skills-lessons.

Participate of rehearsals and simulation lectures.
Accepted Anesthesiology 1cr exam.
Accepted Emergency Health care 0.5 cr exam
Accept Exam-test.

Contents

Student can evaluate the patient´s deterioration in a preventive manner and is able to respond to the demands of the situation using the previously acquired nursing knowledge.
Assessment of the need for care and NEWS Score.
Cardiac events.
Respiratory failure.
Disorders of consciousness.
Patient with cardiac arrest.

Assessment criteria

Complete the given Moodle assignments.
Accepted Emergency Health care 0.5cr exam.
Accepted Anesthesiology 1cr exam.
Pass the theory exam.

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Student know and may named basic concepts of acute care and understand the need for care in acute situations.
- Student apply the acquired nursing knowledge and skills in acute nursing training and simulations.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Student understand and may explain basic concepts of acute care, need for care in acute settings and can apply based on evidence of acute treatment.
- Student can apply the acquired acute nursing knowledge and skills in acute nursing practice and simulation environment.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

- Student understand, can explain and justify the basic concepts of acute care, analyze the need for care in acute settings and can implement the care based on evidence.
- Student is able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in acute care, justified and according to the situation, in acute nursing practice and simulation environment.
