Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- design interactive publications
- produce electronic publications using multiple methods
- test a publication's usability on different platforms and devices
- describe the differences between various publishing methods, platforms and use-cases.

Implementation and methods of teaching

The course is carried out face-to-face and consists of theoretical lectures, software lessons, presentations and discussions.

Timing and attendance

The course runs over nine weeks between 16.10. and 13.12. and consists of 9 face-to-face sessions. A 60% attendance rate is required for successful completion. Attendance at the first meeting of the course is compulsory.

It is not possible to renew the course (there is no exam).

Student time use and work load

The 135 hours of the 5-credit course are divided as follows: face-to-face teaching for about 60 hours, independent and group work for 75 hours (about 2 weeks!).

Contents

The course introduces digital publications, their interactive features and technical implementation, as well as publishing methods and channels. The course will also cover the principle of accessibility and how to create an accessible PDF file.

Assessment based on coursework, presentations, activity and attendance.

The student will receive a failing grade if the attendance requirement is not met or if they have not completed all course assignments within the specified time.

Student can design interactive publications and produce electronic publications using different methods. Student can test the usability of a publication on different platforms and devices and describe the differences between various publishing methods, platforms and user needs.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student can design functional interactive publications and produce electronic publications using different methods. Student can test the usability of a publication on different platforms and devices and describe the differences between various publishing methods, platforms and user needs. The student is active and participates constructively in discussions.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student can design high quality interactive publications and produce electronic publications using different methods. Student can test the usability of a publication on different platforms and devices and describe in detail the differences between various publishing methods, platforms and user needs. Student will demonstrate active and constructive participation in discussions with a minimum attendance rate of 80%.
