Learning outcomes

Proficiency level A2
The student is familiar with Finnish working life and work-life policies.
They understand simple texts related to working hours, the working environment and occupational safety.
They are able to tell the basics about their own field.

Implementation and methods of teaching

During the course, the students will learn about their own field in Finnish and about rules in Finnish working life. The students will get acquainted with a workplace and work tasks in their own field.

Timing and attendance

The course will start in the beginning of the 4. period. Online meetings twice a week

Learning material and recommended literature

Study material in Moodle. Material created by the students.

Working life cooperation

The learning assignments are related to working life. It is possible to include a training period in a company.

5 credits corresponds to approximately 135 hours of study.

Contents

The students will do learning assignments, according to their own choice, on the following topics: 1. Rules in working life, 2. My field and 3. At the workplace. The assignments include written and oral exercises.

When performing the assignments, the students will collect a basic vocabulary related to their own field and working life.

Furthermore, the students will learn to use the following structures: imperative, conditional, partitive case in plural, necessive structures and object.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

Prerequisites: Finnish for Work 1 or corresponding skills

Assessment criteria

Evaluation 1 to 5 based on learning assignments.

The student has not completed all the assignments or they do not correspond to the assignment at all.

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student has completed the assignments in a satisfactory way.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student has completed the assignments well.

The student has completed the assignments in an execellent manner.
