Learning outcomes

Proficiency level: A2

Students are able to
- use grammatically correct Russian vocabulary needed at work
- speak and write Russian in the most common working life situations.

Implementation and methods of teaching

Language of instructions: Finnish, English and Russian. Online learning: participating in online lectures, speaking tasks and accepted obligatory assignments.

Timing and attendance

Online attendance is obligatory. Online lessons are taught once a week.

Learning material and recommended literature

Materials provided by the lecturer on Moodle.

Exam retakes

The course is assessed on the basis of submitted obligatory assignments.

14h distant lessons, about 67h of independent work including written and oral assignments.

Contents

Situations: Russian business culture (introductions, phone calls, presentation of a company, receiving and sending messages, at the hotel during the business trip, my working day, business operations).
Grammar: structures typical of business communication, expressing time, cases of nouns and adjectives in singular and plural, verbs' tenses, aspects.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

Venäjä/Russian 4 or equivalent skills or about three years of Russian studies at senior secondary school. Students speaking Russian as the mother tongue are not accepted to the course.
CERF level: minimum A2.1.

Continuous assessment (written and oral obligatory tasks).

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at a minimum acceptable level. The student can interact satisfactorily both orally and in writing in communicative situations studied during the course. The student can limitedly use the achieved knowledge in new situations.

The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at a good level. The student can interact quiet fluently both orally and in writing in communicative situations studied during the course. The student can use the achieved knowledge in new situations with some limitations.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at an excellent level. The student can fluently interact both orally and in writing in various communicative situations. The student can confidently use the achieved knowledge in new situations.
