Learning outcomes

The students in Electrical Engineering (LUT) are able to
- read, listen, write and speak about topics of electric engineering
- promote their skills and expertise to possible future employers.
Implementation and methods of teaching
The course is intended to be a support for "Basics of Electrical Engineering". The aim is to help the students grasp and master the content and terminology of the above mentioned course.
This course will consist of contact lessons, two written assignments, a group presentation and smaller online assignments, as well as a final test in the form of a Moodle quiz.
Timing and attendance
The course will take place during the autumn term of 2022. Attendance requirement of 75% of classes.
Learning material and recommended literature
All material is provided by the teacher, or is provided on the course BL10A0101 Basics of Electrical Engineering.
Learning environment
In class, material provided through Moodle.
Student time use and work load
There will be approximately 14 contact lessons (á 90 min, 1 per week) throughout the autumn term.
Contents
Specialist vocabulary, reading professional texts on generation, transmission, utilization and pricing of electricity, discussions on specialist topics presented in the lectures on Basics of Electric Engineering, such as solar power, power-to-x, internet of things, and others.

The course is taught at a level of B2.

The student fails to complete the required assignments in a satisfactory manner.

The student has satisfactory English language skills and he/she can understand and produce basic texts related to electrical engineering at a satisfactory level .Communication consists of simple expressions and/or there might be plentiful mistakes.
Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has a good command of the English language and he/she can understand and produce basic texts related to electrical engineering well. Communication is mostly clear and correct
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has an excellent command of the English language and he/she masters basic texts related to electrical engineering in an excellent way. Communication is very fluent and versatile.
