Implementation and methods of teaching
Online course. Self-study. Individual and pair work.
Timing and attendance
Exercises, assignments and tests to complete through Moodle according to the time plan. No scheduled classes.

Self-study materials and assignments on Moodle.
Exam retakes
Students who fail the course will need to complete the course requirements within one year (12 months) from the end of the course period. Consult the course teacher.

Online on Moodle. Email for communication between the teacher and students.

Contents
- revision of essential grammar: verbs, nouns, sentence structure
- vocabulary development
- speaking/conversation skills
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
The course is targeted to students whose grade for English at matriculation exam was lower than C, or students who have not studied in senior high school (lukio) or whose level of English is below B1 according to the Common European Framework. The course is taught at level B1.2/B2.1. This course cannot be included in compulsory language studies.

The student has a good command of the course content. The student can deliver everyday messages clearly in writing; possible problems with grammar and vocabulary do not hinder communication. The student can speak clearly in everyday communication situations.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has a comprehensive command of the course content. The student can deliver messages fluently and explicitly in writing, making occasional mistakes with grammar and vocabulary. The student can speak confidently and effortlessly in everyday communication situations.
