Learning outcomes

Student
- know basics about textile fibers and plastic materials: the most common materials, applications, production volumes. material flows and environmental impacts.
- can explain how material efficiency and recycling can reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials and energy.
- be able to compare materials with each other and evaluate their effects on recycling or how to recycle them (sorting, recoverability in the manufacture of new products) or reuse energy.
- be able to keep track of circular economy and recycling related business activities as well as ongoing projects.

Implementation and methods of teaching

Teaching is conducted as a virtual tutoring. On-line guidance is also provided at agreed times. The course includes theme-related tasks. During the course, the student also writes a report (up to 6 pages) about the recycling potential and business opportunities of the textile or plastic material (product) chosen. The reports are peer reviewed.
