Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- identify and use the course vocabulary and phrases for common everyday situations
- tell about oneself and understand basic questions
- read and write simple sentences related to the course topics.
Proficiency level: A1
Implementation and methods of teaching
Online lessons (in Zoom) and independent studying. Contents of the course are studied mainly with functional exercises.
Timing and attendance
- The course will be organized during one period.
- Active participation is required.
Learning material and recommended literature
Materials given by the teacher. The material is in Moodle.
Exam retakes
The exam dates will be announced later.
Learning environment
Online meetings in Zoom and exercises in Moodle.
Student time use and work load
Approximately 81 hours (meetings + independent studying).
Contents
The course content will be the following:
- greetings
- introduction and personal details
- questions and answers
- numbers and alphabet
- countries, languages, nationalities
- pronunciation
- verb type 1, present tense
- genitive case.
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
No previous Finnish skills required.
Assessment criteria
An exam to evaluate, how well the student can
- write in Finnish
- understand Finnish texts
- understand Finnish talk
- speak in Finnish.
