Students are able to
- expand the vocabulary used in everyday situations
- know the basic Russian grammatical structures needed in everyday situations
- communicate clearly
- apply different features of Russian culture in various communication situations.
Implementation and methods of teaching
Language of instructions: Finnish, English and Russian. Online learning: participating in on-line lectures, speaking tasks and accepted obligatory tasks.
Timing and attendance
Online attendance is obligatory. Online lessons are taught once a week.

Materials provided by the lecturer on Moodle.
Exam retakes
Examination resit is possible via EXAM-service.

28h online lessons, about 52h of independent work including written and oral home-work assignments.
Contents
Situations: in a hotel, café or restaurant, shopping, customs procedures in train, hire a taxi, on the phone, talking about yourself, your family and free time.
Grammar: singular and plural adjectives in Nominative case, plural nouns in Nominative case, Present tenses of verbs, Accusative case, numerals up to 1000.
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
Venäjä 1 (3 ECTS) or equivalent skills. Starting level A1.1, target level A1.2.
Students speaking Russian as the mother tongue are not generally accepted to the course.
Assessment criteria
The course can be completed in two ways:
1) continuous evaluation (70% active participation in class and accepted obligatory tasks);
2) exam in the electronic exam hall only and accepted obligatory tasks.

The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at a minimum acceptable level. The student can interact satisfactorily both orally and in writing in communicative situations studied during the course. The student can limitedly use the achieved knowledge in new situations.
Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at a good level. The student can interact quiet fluently both orally and in writing in communicative situations studied during the course. The student can use the achieved knowledge in new situations with some limitations.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
The student has reached the learning outcomes of the course at an excellent level. The student can fluently interact both orally and in writing in various communicative situations. The student can confidently use the achieved knowledge in new situations.
