Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- communicate clearly and effectively in different generic and field-specific workplace situations both orally and in writing
- find, evaluate and use information effectively
- function collaboratively in international working environments.

Implementation and methods of teaching

Lessons focusing on group and pair work with emphasis on spoken interaction. The assignments will consist of writing a job application (or alternatively making a video CV), writing a formal text, giving a group presentation and participating in an individual interview. All students will need to complete both spoken and written assignments.

In-class lessons, material and assignments primarily through Moodle.

Student time use and work load

4 ECTS equals 108 hours of work. There will be roughly 40 lessons (á 45 minutes) during the course. The amount may vary due to timetable constraints.

Contents

Students will:

- learn the main terminology and concepts of their own field

- manage in written and oral communication situations required in professional studies and in the work life

- recognize and apply different sources and tools to help improve their English skills

- learn to participate in workshops and group discussions as well as give presentations

No prerequisites necessary. Teaching at B2 level.
