Learning outcomes

Proficiency level: A1

Students are able to
•tell about themselves in Finnish using simple expressions
•use simple Finnish everyday phrases
•understand a very simple and slow Finnish conversation about topics dealt with in the course
•understand main contents of a very simple text on concrete topics with the help of a dictionary
•write very simple sentences with the help of a dictionary on the course topics

Implementation and methods of teaching

Spoken and written exercises, short lectures, pair and group work in class as well as individual assignments to do at home. Students are also required to study independently before each class.
Lessons either online or in a physical classroom, depending on the situation at the start of the course.

- Asking for prices
- Telling about your plans
- Food and groceries
- Grammar (vowel harmony, verb conjugation, simple questions, to have -structure, genitive case, singular partitive case, kpt-change)

The course is taught at a level of A1; No previous knowledge of Finnish language is expected or required
