Learning outcomes

Proficiency level: A1

Students are able to
•tell about themselves in Finnish using simple expressions
•use simple Finnish everyday phrases
•understand a very simple and slow Finnish conversation about topics dealt with in the course
•understand main contents of a very simple text on concrete topics with the help of a dictionary
•write very simple sentences with the help of a dictionary on the course topics

The study material is introduced at the beginning of the course.

Contents

Topics: greeting people, introducing oneself, asking simple questions, telling about one´s plans and schedules, asking for the price, grocery shopping, telling time
Grammar: the Finnish phonetic and orthographic system, numbers, verb conjugation, negative sentences, questions, partitive, genitive
