Learning outcomes
The student is able to

Implementation and methods of teaching
The study unit will consist of three learning assignments executed in groups and/or individually:
1) Study circle in small groups with individual tasks
2) Project assignment in small groups
3) Participation in the SELL Games event on 15-17 May '20
The evaluation will be based on a) knowledge and information retrieval skills, b) practical skills, and c) responsibility and reflection skills. Students work for a commissioned development project that deals with SELL Games event experience from the audience's perspective. SELL Games is an international student sports event that will be organized in Lahti 15-17 May 2020. In the project they get to design and influence on the customers' experiences in the event and network with companies and other working life representatives in the region.
Timing and attendance
The study unit is offered only in contact learning. The study unit starts on 21 Jan '20, and the lectures take place on Tuesday mornings. The study unit ends on 15-17 May '20 when the actual event is held in Lahti. This is an awesome opportunity to gain experience on experience design in events and to be part of a big international event. Sports, enjoyment, experience and togetherness! Lahti2020 - Light the Fire! The student is expected to commit to group work and individual tasks.

The learning material will be announced at the beginning of the study unit, incl. books, reports, articles, blogs, videos. Partly, the material will be retrieved by the student.
Working life cooperation
The study unit is connected to close collaboration with the SELL Games event, https://www.lamk.fi/en/events/sell-games-2020
Student time use and work load
1 ECTS cr. equals 27 h of student's work. Accorddingly, the study unit of 5 ECTS cr. = 133 hours of student's work. The 1/3 of the work load comes from lectures and study circles, and 2/3 of the work loads consists of the project work to be conducted in small groups and individually.
Contents
The study unit belongs to Leisure & Well-being services (15 ECTS) study module. It is recommended that the students enroll in all three study units (LI00I49, LI00BI50 and LI00BI51). In general, the study module focuses on synergies in combining tourism, leisure, well-being, nature and culture environment, and technology. This study unit, in particular, gives the student an overview of the international tourism and leisure industry and the supply and value networks and distribution channels involved. Also, the students get to learn how to co-create value in the ever extending competition on people's free-time.
