Learning outcomes

Student will learn:
- Terms Carbon footprint and carbon storage and their application to wood products
- The role of wood material in environmental questions why wood materials can be a better solution for environmental problems
- Meaning of Environmental Product Declaration and basic principles of carbon footprint calculation

Implementation and methods of teaching

Virtual course, which Includes lessons and e-learning material.

Contents

- Introduction to carbon footprint and why it is important to reduce it
- Carbon footprint characteristic to wooden products
- Overall introduction to Estonian and Finnish forests and forest industry
- Environmental product declaration
- Carbon calculation principles
- Discussion of relevant topics regarding the course

Assessment criteria

Open book exam by the end of each study module. 50% to pass each exam and 50% of overall points to pass the course. Each exam has 1 attempt.
