Students are able to produce effective business documents using appropriate genres and styles. They can use standard business document templates and apply the terminology used in most common business documents.

Course contents:
1. Formal language for writing business documents (specific to this course)
2. Common business transaction documents (e.g, inquiry, quotation, proposal complaint, etc.)
3. Writing quizzes

It is expected students can communicate in English at B2 level (per CEFR).

Assessment criteria

Students complete a number of small written assignments, some of which may be graded Pass/Fail and others on a 0-5 scale. Completion of all assignments will contribute to the final course grade.

- Business transaction documents (inquiry, reply, request for quotation, quotation, complaint, adjustment)
- Other business documents (2 out of 4 options - payment reminders, thank-you letter, guest speaker invitation, press release)

No scheduled meetings, no contact classes either online or on campus. However, students must adhere to given deadlines for assignments.

Assessment criteria

Students are to complete the assignments according to the given timetable, pass an EXAM test, and write a self-evaluation at the end of the course. The teacher assesses the students' performance individually on a scale of 5-0 (certain assignments Pass/Fail). Failed/grade 0 assignments and a failed test can be retaken twice. If the student completes the course (grade 4-1) but wishes to upgrade, one attempt is allowed. Consult the teacher about retakes and upgrade exams.

Course objective:
Students are able to produce effective business documents using appropriate genres and styles. They can use standard business document templates and apply the terminology used in most common business documents.

Course contents:
1. Formal language for writing business letters
2. Common business transaction documents (e.g, inquiry letter, reply letter, quotation letter etc)
3. Information regarding delivery and payments in business transactions
4. Other business letters (outside of business transactions)

It is expected students can communicate in English at B2 level (CEFR).

The teacher will have an autumn break from Monday 24.10 - Sunday 6.11. Assignments and coursework will be arranged around these dates but there may be a small delay in students receiving feedback and grades for assignments due during this time.

Students will complete six small written assignments, all of which will be graded on a 0-5 scale. The final course grade will be an average of the assignment grades.

Three compulsory assignments (letters graded together in sets of 2):
1. Inquiry letter + Reply letter

3. Complaint letter + Adjustment letter

Plus three assignments out of the following six options (letters graded individually, one grade per letter/document):
