Learning outcomes

The student is able to

Implementation and methods of teaching

The course is conducted as a face-to-face course, consisting of theoretical lectures, presentations, exercises and discussions. In addition, students will work on their own and/or in groups.

The student will be able to
- utilise knowledge from futures research on weak signals in the design process
- build different scenarios on the relevance and impact of futures changes on the company's business strategy
- identify and anticipate consumer needs and business environments using the knowledge generated by futures research
- assess and use AI applications as a tool in the creative sector
- use AI applications in accordance with responsible and ethical principles
- understand the overall concept and produce a fashion show or exhibition in their field.

Timing and attendance

The studio is divided into three different sections for the autumn and spring semesters. An 80% attendance rate is required for successful completion.

Building competence requires active presence throughout the course. Attendance is compulsory at the start and end day of each section of the course.

Learning material and recommended literature

Literature recommendations, materials, websites and foresight sources will be reviewed during the course.

Student time use and work load

The 540 hours of the 20-credit studio consist of face-to-face teaching and independent as well as group work (320-340 hours).

Contents

During the studio, students will consider the future of the clothing industry from several angles. The studio aims to develop the student's own thinking and knowledge of new tools. Students will learn about futures thinking and the importance of knowledge generated by research in the design process, and will acquire the technical, knowledge and skills that will be useful in the future when working in the industry. As part of the studio, a Spring 2025 KOE fashion show will be designed and produced.

Assessment criteria

Assessment criteria: attendance (at least 80%, also in Zoom), active participation in class, active and independent completion of tasks, initiative, ability to work fluently in a group, ability to use what you have learned and to complete things.
The studio grade is determined by the average of the three components. Detailed instructions will be distributed at the beginning of each studio component.

A failed grade is given when the student has not achieved the learning objectives of the course or has not been able to demonstrate his/her competence. Or the student has not completed the tasks for which he/she is responsible and participated as an active member of the group work and completing the assignments.
Attendance has been less than 80%.

Student

- Has carried out the tasks for which he/she was responsible in a guided way.
- Has not shown activity, initiative and self-direction in carrying out group work.

Student:
- can apply and develop a variety of options in their working process.
- Can use what they have learned in a planned and creative way.
- has done well in completing the tasks for which he/she was responsible within the time limits.
- Has demonstrated activity, initiative and self-direction as a member of a team.
- can apply the methods used, suggest and brainstorm ways of working and communicate constructively in a team.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student:
- can apply and develop a variety of options in his/her working process.
- Can use what he/she has learned in a planned and creative way and apply the feedback he/she receives.
- Has done an excellent job of completing the tasks for which he/she was responsible within the time limits.
- has systematically demonstrated exceptional activity, initiative, ability to ideate and self-direction as a member of a team.
- can apply the methods used, propose and innovate approaches and ideas, and communicate constructively within the team.
