Material and literature will be informed during the first lecture.

Exam retakes

Course will be completed by the course assignment. In case student is not able to pass the course with the assignment (report is failed or it is not submitted in time), student will attend re-exam (based on course material).

Contents

Basic concepts in research process. Research path. Nature of qualitative research method and its 'sub-methods', e.g. grounded theory, discourse analysis, and case-study. Collecting the empirical data. How to analyse the empirical data. Content of the research report. Assignment.

Assessment criteria

Course assignment will be graded 0-5
Final grade for the course will be based on course assignment.
Student needs to get minimum grade 1 from the course assignment in order to pass the course.

Failing to reach the level of 1 according to the evaluation criteria.

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student is able to recognize different phases in research process. Student is able to recognize different research method types. Student understands how to collect the data for the research process.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student is able to explain different phases in the research process, and is also able to explain different research method types and their differences. Student is able to collect and present theoretical and empirical data.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student is able to analyse and interpret different phases in research process, and also different research method types and justify the choices. Student is able to collect and interpret relevant theoretical and empirical data and is also able to apply it in research process. Student is able to produce an extensive research report.
