Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- perform basic workflows using industry standard CAD software and is able to use basic terminology of CAD work
- independently use CAD software as a design tool
- create work drawings using CAD software.

Implementation and methods of teaching

The student gains an understanding and skills of the packaging design concepting, structural design and working process through utilizing CAD tools such as Esko ArtiosCAD, Esko Studio Toolkit, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Esko Ai plugins.

There is a possibility to gain 3 extra credits through doing all extra exercises provided in the course platform.

Students can decide either to gain 2ECTS or 5ECTS from the course.

Course needs to be taken in classroom A260, Lahti Campus.

Timing and attendance

Teaching is arranged as step-by-step instruction in the classroom as contact teaching for one week, as independent studying in the classroom with the teacher's help, or as an independent self-study in the classroom with the materials provided in the course platform in Moodle.

All materials are provided in the course platform in Moodle

Learning environment

Classroom A260 as self-studying, or as intensive course.

Student time use and work load

Learning new software is very personal. For some, it happens faster and some others slowlier. The course is calculated so, that you can gain 2ECTS in a week with a slow speed and no stress. If you are fast and eager to know more, you can gain 5ECTS in one week of full studying.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

Adobe Illustrator's basic skills are needed. Adobe Photoshop skills are a benefit.
