Implementation and methods of teaching
The implementation is intended for the group TLTITVT25SV, Bachelor of Engineering, Information and Communication Technology 25S, online studies, daytime implementation. The course will be conducted as online teaching during the first and second periods. In addition to joint meetings, the course includes independent work, both individually and in groups.
Timing and attendance
Active participation in face-to-face and real-time online teaching is mandatory; communication skills are practised during the lessons.
Learning material and recommended literature
The teacher shares the material in Moodle.
Learning environment
Real-time interactive online teaching and online materials in the Moodle course. Use a camera and headset during lessons to ensure a comfortable and safe learning experience and sufficient sound quality.
Student time use and work load
5 credits = 135 hours of student work. The course is implemented on a tight schedule and includes several written assignments and group work between meetings, so sufficient time must be reserved.
Contents
Texts and communication situations from the student’s own field of study and profession. Practice of communication skills and situations needed in studies and working life. The content and learning assignments may vary by field of education. Key topics include, for example, presentation skills, group communication skills (e.g. meetings, negotiations, conferences), giving, receiving, and utilising feedback, writing for study and professional purposes with the key text types, the basics of language and text revision, as well as formal style.

After completing the course, the student will be able to

- act purposefully, appropriately, and effectively in communication and interaction situations in working life and in their own professional field (text, presentation, and group communication skills)

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
The course level is C1–C2. The course is part of the compulsory communication studies in the mother tongue (Finnish) and is intended for students whose mother tongue or language of schooling is Finnish.
