Implementation and methods of teaching

The course will equip students with the processes of artistic work and enable them to focus on the development of artistic expression. The course will practice project-based working by exploring the different stages of the working process and practising the skills required in them. Work will begin by practising the implementation and presentation of the work plan and by identifying the methodological and thematic starting points of each student. Once the work plan is completed, the students move on to its implementation, i.e. the artistic work. The work will be sequenced through weekly supervision meetings and a joint mid-term review. An important part of the learning process is also the documentation of the artistic work and the keeping of a working diary. In the final phase of the course, students will practice the creation of an artist's portfolio and focus on practising the technical and content requirements. The course will end with a joint final examination and feedback discussion.

The course also includes possible guided visits to exhibitions, various writing exercises and an introduction to different phenomena in contemporary art. In addition to the in-house study, the course will make use of the Moodle learning environment.

Timing and attendance

Teaching takes place in Lappeenranta at the Skinnarila campus in the visual arts teaching area.

An attendance guarantee can be arranged separately for open students.
