Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- obtain, utilise and assess R&D-related information and their sources critically
- follow the rules of ethical principles applied in all research activities
- use the most typical research and development methods of their own field
- write a scientific report and is familiar with the requirements for language and style and how to document the sources

Implementation and methods of teaching

This course is based both on distance learning and contact lessons. Materials are given in Moodle. Contact sessions 2h/week (2 x 45 min.; 12 weeks). During the course students will write a small scale research report based on the data collected in groups. The exam based on the course material will be taken individually. The course involves additional individual tasks in both quantitative and qualitative parts of the course.

Contents

Student will adopt basics
- of research process
- of quantitative and qualitative research approaches, including data collection and analysis methods
- of reporting scientific results
- of use of data for business purposes

Assessment criteria

Course evaluation is based on students' knowledge and practical skills - demonstrated via course tasks. Evaluation criteria in Statistical Analysis: exercises, project work, exam. Evaluation criteria in Qualitative Research Methods: exercises, project work and exam.
