Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- recognise the different sources and tools to help them improve their English skills
- gain confidence and manage in written and oral communication situations required in professional studies and in the work life
- describe their education and qualifications
- understand the terminology and concepts of their own field

Implementation and methods of teaching

-Active individual work on field-specific vocabulary (qualifications, work, business)
-A video presentation, pairwork (product or service)
-A group job interview in English (individual assessment)

The estimated course workload is 3 x 27 hours, including an online kick-off session, online clinics, an online job interview session in small groups (Zoom), and homework, reading, and course assignments and activities.

Contents

The course is aimed at group 04LIL20KV only.
Basic tools for language learning; some business themes and concepts discussed in English; education and qualifications; identifying key job skills and tackling job-related situations in English; basic presentation skills.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

Intermediate to upper-intermediate level skills in English (e.g. CEFR B2 / IELTS 6-6.5). Note: This course does not review English grammar. It is expected that the students enrolled in the course have good intermediate-level English skills. In addition, it is expected that the enrolled students have good time management skills and know how to study online.
