Learning outcomes

The course objectives are, that the students:

- Understands the principles of corporate financing
- Know the basic instruments of corporate finance, corporate capital structuring and corporate valuation
- Have principle ideas how to plan financial decisions in corporations
- Understand and calculate mathematical problems related to loans, investments, working capital and currencies

Implementation and methods of teaching

Virtual teaching, virtual and written exam, essays and assignments.

Timing and attendance

Virtual lessons.
Calculating financial decisions in the classes, home and virtually.
Case examples and case analysis.

Brealey et. al. Fundamentals of Corporate Finance

Alternative completion methods

The course can be passed with semi periodic exams and course exam, which all are virtual.

Exam retakes

All semi periodic exams and course exam are preset when the course begins.

Learning environment

Contact lessons will be delivered in LAB classrooms. Exams will be performed in cloud based Moodle learning environment.

Student time use and work load

The course assumes that students independent studying is approximately 45 hours.

Contents

The course content is built from the theories and practical solutions. After succesfull participation the students will understand and manage the following:
- How corporations manage financial needs
- Principles of finance theories and financing corporations
- Financial instrumentation and how they should be used
- Financial planning as part of corporate decision making process
- Financial planning methods for investments and working capital, the use of financial indicators in the planning process
- Corporate capital structuring and it´s influences in financial decisions
- Calculation methods of financial instruments
- Currencies in international trade
- Financial risk management in corporations

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

LAB Business Mathematics Course or corresponding knowledge.

Assessment criteria

Semi periodic exams and course exam are the basis for the course assessment.

Student does not meet the lowest basic knowledge requirements in corporate finance, is not familiar with the fundamental concepts and definitions.
