Learning outcomes
To understand the role and importance of purchasing and supply chain management in global business networks. To have basic knowledge and skills for operative and strategic purchasing and sourcing in business companies and public organizations.
Implementation and methods of teaching
Option 1: Lectures, assignments and exam
In autumn 2021 the lectures are held both on-site and on-line at the same time and the lectures will be recorded for later view. Assignments are given on lectures and also in Moodle. Assignments are pair/group works which can be done remotely. There will be option to do the exam also on-line.
Option 2: Exam based solely on the textbook / other readings
There will be option to do the exam also on-line.
Timing and attendance
It is important to participate the first lecture. The choise between the two options in made during the first week after first lecture.
First lecture will be held both on-site and on-line

Will be informed during the lectures.

Contents
Basic concepts of purchasing, the importance of purchasing, purchasing process, sourcing, sourcing risks, evaluation of quotations, purchasing negotiations,contracting, supplier relationships,ethical issues, purchasing planning and strategies, public procurement, practical issues in importing
Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.
Supply Chain Operations and Logistics or some other basic couse in logistics and/or supply chain management.
Assessment scale
1-5
Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)
Student has basic knowledge of soourcing and purchasing in business. Student knows the main concepts and operations in sourcing & purchasing, is able to show also some learning from the assignments.
Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)
Student has good knowledge about sourcing and purchasing in business, understands the main impact of procurement process, is able to show good learning results from the assignments.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
Student has excellent knowledge and understanding about sourcing and purchasing in business, understands the importance of the subject to global business companies, is able to show also excellent learning results from the assignments.
