Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- identify aspects related to global corporate communication
- understand the communication process in purchasing and sales
- communicate both orally and in writing in different kinds of communication situations
- conduct meetings and negotiations in a global business environment

Implementation and methods of teaching

Regular online meetings for discussions and feedback on course content and assignments. Blended learning methods will be applied and students are required to reflect on their own learning. Individual and group assignments will be provided on the course Moodle platform. No substitute assignments provided for missed assignments or contact lessons.

100% online work and distance learning. Written and oral activities during contact lessons.

Contents

This course will teach the student oral and written professional and business communication skills through contact lessons, reading, individuals assignments, and one large group assignment related to purchasing process of companies.

There will be team discussions to practice negotiation skills and practice meetings for business purposes. Reading materials concerning global business and global communication will be provided on Moodle.

Course grading will be based on a simulated business interaction (group project) and individual assignments related to other aspects of business communication. Course attendance and delivery of homework assignments will have an impact on course grading.

Assessment criteria

Coursework and assignments. The student must complete and submit all designated gradable assignments to pass the course. Late deliveries have a negative impact on grade. Grading: 0-5

The student has good oral and written skills in business and professional communication in English and can apply the acquired terminology, models and processes in varied professional communicative situations. The student has demonstrated good or decent abilities to deliver projects on time and in a professional manner.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

The student has excellent oral and written skills in professional and business communication in English and can diversely apply the acquired terminology and processes in demanding professional communicative situations. The student has demonstrated excellent/outstanding abilities to deliver projects on time and in a professional manner.
