Osaamistavoitteet
The student
- is able to describe the main principles of circular economy and identifyies the importance of resource efficiency as a part of the concept of circular economy
- is able to demonstrate the life cycle analysis and its principles
- is able to evaluate the environmental impacts of products and processes during their life cycle and develops opportunities to decrease them
- is able to analyse and identify means to improve material and energy efficiency in different environments and urban areas
Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät
Course materials, literature and assignments will be in the Reppu platform.
The course consists of the several written assignments and quizzes.
A case study from the working life, which will be selected either by the tutoring teacher (or by a student himself), will be reported as one of the assignments students.
Exam in the Reppu platform.
Tutoring by the tutoring teacher via Skype.

An exam and re-sitting exams in the course platform. A new trial can be done twice, if the result is less than 50% of the points. Max. 3 trials.

- has gained knowledge about industrial symbioses and is able to explain the function
- has learnt the key circular economy business models
- is able to nominate and present they classical circulation economy cases

- knows the principles of the circular economy and is able to justify reasons behind it
- knows the differences and interdependecs between technical and biological circulation, is able to present examples from the both spheres
- has gained knowledge about industrial symbioses and is able to explain the function, is able to nominate the existing/potential ones e.g. from own home region
- has learnt the key circular economy business models, is able to suggest relevant one for a certain case
- is able to nominate and present they classical circulation economy cases and from biological and technological circulation
- is able to present examples of key technologies, innovations and examples of other tools (e.g. design tools) and explain their role in the circular economy

Student
- knows the principles of the circular economy and is able to justify reasons behind it. A student is able to assess the development stage in a certain context e.g. in the home region.
- knows the differences and interdependecs between technical and biological circulation, is able to present examples from the both spheres, is able to suggest further development functions for the cases.
- has gained knowledge about industrial symbioses and is able to explain the function, is able to nominate the existing/potential ones e.g. from own home region, is able to present them logically
- has learnt the key circular economy business models, is able to suggest relevant one for a certain case, understands the meaning of commercialization for the circular economy development
- is able to nominate and present they classical circulation economy cases and from biological and technological circulation, is able to identify/see the potential ones in a certain context
- is able to present examples of key technologies, innovations and examples of other tools (e.g. design tools) and explain their role in the circular economy and assess the meaning for the function
- is able to discuss and report about the topic in a professional way
