Learning outcomes

Students know how to
• differentiate between various typographic categories and describe their areas of use
• design typographical layouts and packaging graphics to support a brand
• use the means of typography in the design of multilingual packaging graphics.

Contents

This course is part of the Packaging design module.
This course will cover the basics of typography. The students will gain an understanding of different typographical categories and hierarchy and how to apply them to create a balanced and informative layout and packaging design that supports overall brand strategy.
We will also look at multilingual packaging design and what it requires from typography.

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

NOTE: The course is primarily for Packaging and brand design students!
Other students should enroll on MI00BM06 Basics of Packaging Design.
Basic knowledge on InDesign is required, but no previous skills in typography are needed.
This course is suitable for interior architecture students to get basic skills working with typography in branded environments.
